Many consumers now see this trend as an important step in environmental protection and sustainability: 29% of Germans believe it is more ethical to be vegan. Supermarkets are embracing this trend and experimenting with various ideas. Previously, we discussed the Veganuary initiative in supermarkets, highlighting its impact, especially on Lidl. A recent survey conducted by [YouGov Surveys](https://business.yougov.com/de/produkt/realtime) sheds light on German consumers’ interest in such offerings. More than a quarter of respondents (28%) express likelihood of shopping in a fully plant-based supermarket. However, a majority (65%) feel it’s unlikely. This suggests that there may not be a strong demand for exclusively vegan supermarkets. [Majority of Germans would not use a purely vegan supermarket](https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/d4gDA/1/?dark=true) Looking at age groups, younger consumers aged 25-34 (43%) and 18-24 (41%) are most likely to consider using a vegan supermarket, compared to less than a fifth of those aged 55 and above (18%). As expected, consumers who perceive meatless diets as healthier are more inclined to shop in a vegan supermarket. Over half of this group (51%) agree with this statement, compared to 28% of the general population. Respondents willing to pay more for high-quality products also express a higher likelihood of using a vegan supermarket (35% compared to 28% of the general population). Similarly, 33% of consumers focused on fitness and health are inclined to consider such options. Thus, while the overall readiness to use a fully vegan supermarket in Germany is currently low, there is potential success among specific target groups. > This article was published originally on [*YouGov*](https://yougov.de/). --- Source: https://www.datapulse.de/en/low-interest-vegan-supermarkets/
